Configure a service monitor
After adding a service monitor, you can customize its settings to match your needs. You can change its name, icon, notifications, component filters, and more.
Open the configuration menu
- Go to Monitors from your left menu.
- Find the service you want to update.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the right side.
- Select Configure.
Configuration tabs and settings
General tab
- Display name – Rename the monitor to something your team will instantly recognize.
- Icon – Replace the default logo with your own (PNG, JPG, WEBP, or GIF up to 500 KB).
- Description – Add a short description for internal context or for status page visitors. Once saved, the description appears as an info icon next to the monitor name — viewers can hover over it to read your note.
- Delete monitor – Remove the monitor if you no longer need it.
Component Filters tab
- Include or exclude specific components from monitoring.
- Ideal for tracking only the parts of a service that matter to you.
Note: Services without an official status page (marked with an X icon) don’t have an official component list, so the Component Filters tab won’t be available.
Notifications tab
- Choose which incident types trigger alerts for this monitor:
- Major incidents
- Minor incidents
- Maintenance incidents
- Upcoming maintenance
- Early Warning Signals
- The icons shown next to each type indicate which integrations you have active and that support those notifications.
- The link Notification settings at the top of this page takes you to your Board settings, where you can configure notification types for all monitors at once.
