Override a service status
If a service is experiencing an outage that isn’t reflected on its official status page (very unlikely if you have Early Warning System (EWS) enabled) — or if an outage shown there doesn’t actually affect your team — you can manually override its status in StatusGator. Note that overrides do not notify team members or trigger integrations, they just change the displayed status.
Steps to override a status
- Go to the Monitors page and find the monitor you want to change.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the monitor and select Override Status.
- In the Override status window:
- Select the new status (Up, Maint, Warn, or Down).
- Optionally, add a custom message for your team.
- Check Lock Status if you want to keep the status and message from changing automatically.
- Click Override.
- The updated status will appear in the Status column with an indicator that it’s been overridden:
- Pencil icon – Status has been overridden.
- Lock icon – Status has been overridden and locked.
