Service descriptions
Choosing the right service monitor can be tricky—especially when names or logos look alike. With the service descriptions feature, you’ll see helpful context before adding a service, so you can confidently pick the correct one.
System-wide service descriptions are generated by StatusGator and appear in three key places. If you see service descriptions that can be improved, reach out to us.
1. In the Add Monitor search results
When adding a service, you'll see a short description directly in the search results to help you differentiate similar names and logos.
2. On service directory pages
Service descriptions are visible both inside your StatusGator account and on the public website service directory. They’re especially helpful when browsing or comparing monitors.
3. On service landing pages
For even deeper context, each service’s landing page includes its description—making it easy to understand its purpose before adding it to your monitor list.
These descriptions clarify differences like “Google Workspace” vs. “Google Cloud”, helping you avoid confusion and pick the right service.
